Russell Crowe spoke about his great passion: "The simplest way to soothe yourself"

One of Hollywood's most famous actors has been performing not only on the big screen but also on stage for many years. Russell Crowe is the frontman of the rock band Indoor Garden Party, with whom he tours worldwide. He emphasizes that playing music is a great escape from the arduous and strictly controlled work on film sets. "When I go out on a rock 'n' roll stage, it's anarchy. I don't know what's going to happen. That's why I do it," the Oscar winner revealed.
Russell Crowe is undoubtedly a man of many talents. The star of such blockbusters as "Gladiator," "Robin Hood," and "A Beautiful Mind" is not only a respected and award- winning actor but also a gifted musician. The 61-year-old New Zealander plays guitar, sings, and writes songs.
He dreamed of a stage career before setting out to conquer the Dream Factory. In the early 1980s, he performed under the pseudonym Russ Le Roq and also performed in musicals. He has collaborated with numerous bands. With the group 30 Odd Foot of Grunts, he released three studio albums, and in 2005, he released his debut solo album, "My Hand, My Heart."
Crowe's most active musical project is Indoor Garden Party, a rock collective founded in 2009 in which he serves as vocalist, guitarist and frontman.
The group brings together diverse artists who join forces for specific live performances. Their work is an eclectic blend of rock, soul, folk, blues, and country music. With Indoor Garden Party, the Hollywood actor has recorded two albums: "The Musical," released in 2017, and "Prose and Cons," released last summer. On December 20, the band will perform at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney.
Speaking to People magazine, the BAFTA winner revealed that playing music is a great escape for him from the tedious and strictly controlled work on film sets.
Russell Crowe in "Nuremberg""Playing in rock 'n' roll bands is the easiest way for me to find solace. As an actor, you have to submit to a schedule every day, sacrifice the needs of the character for the sake of what the producer wants, what the director wants, what the cinematographer wants, what the rest of the cast might want. When I go out on a rock 'n' roll stage, it's anarchy. I don't know what's going to happen. That's why I do it," Crowe revealed.
This doesn't mean, however, that the "L.A. Confidential" star has given up on screen acting. He recently starred in the upcoming drama "Nuremberg," directed by James Vanderbilt. Crowe portrayed one of the architects of Hitler's Third Reich, Hermann Göring, who is the main defendant in the historic Nuremberg trials.
The film tells the story of a young psychiatrist who is tasked with approaching a Nazi criminal to obtain irrefutable evidence of his guilt. Crowe stars alongside Rami Malek, Richard E. Grant, and Michael Shannon. The film will be released in Polish cinemas on November 28, 2025.
